Frequently Asked Questions

Austrian Women's Run

1. I am a pure beginner. Can I also participate in the Austrian Women's Run?

The earlier one begins to exercise, the better. The brochure "Fit in 10 Wochen" (Fit in 11 weeks - information only in German!) will tell you about that. But it is not too late even if you have just started running a few weeks beforehand. Walking is also allowed.
We recommend that beginners start with the 5k course.

2. Is walking allowed at the Austrian Women's Run?

Of course. There is no time limit!

3. Do I have to show a cut-off time to participate in the Women's Run?

Of course not! All women and girls who enjoy running are eligible to participate. Both courses are flat, whereby the 5k course is most suitable for beginners.

4. Is it possible to participate without registering?

No, in order to plan the event better, we must naturally estimate the number of participants. Without registration this is not possible.
Furthermore, participants receive various extras (T-shirt, starting package, refreshments, rose, medals…), which naturally present a significant cost to the organizers.

5. How can I check if my registration has gone through?

This year, starting lists will be online beginning in March - they will be constantly updated.

6. Can a runner also compete in the appropriate age category even if she participates in the team competition?

Naturally, every runner will also be timed in her age group regardless of whether she is in the team competition. The first three finishers in each age group will receive special awards.

7. Is it possible/sensible for more than five women to register for a team?

Often a friend or colleague has to cancel, and the team cannot compete. If more than five women are registered in a team, then the fastest five times will be judged as the team time. If ten women are in a team, then the fastest five are in the first team and the others in a second team. Naturally, every runner also competes individually.

8. Can a team also register online?

Naturally! However, a separate formula has to be filled out for each runner, whereby the team name must be entered in the field TEAM. Please make sure to use the exact same spelling for the team name in all registrations.

9. Can women on the same team run different courses?

No! Please make sure that all women on a team choose the same distance, otherwise it is not possible to judge your team!

10. Why do the runners start in staggered blocks?

Due to the large number of participants, we want to make sure that there isn't a huge crowd at the start and finish (and mainly at the refreshments). Also, staggering the start spreads out the starting field, making it easier to run at one's own pace.

11. Why is the timekeeping done with a chip?

For the comfort of the participants. There is no finish line. The timer is set off by running over the pad. With the chip there is the net time, which means that your personal time is taken from the time you run over the starting pad until you cross the red carpet at the finish. It is therefore possible that a runner arrives at the finish before you, but in the results is listed as finishing after you.

12. Why is a deposit of € 28 charged for the chip?

The ChampionChip prescribes this system. It assures that the chips are returned. When you return the chip, you are refunded € 25,-.
If you want to purchase the chip, then you simply keep it. The firm Pentek TIMING will then send you the detailed information.

13. How is the chip attached?

It is attached to the laces on the right or left shoe.

14. Why can't I run with someone else's chip?

The chip is registered under a specific name, which also appears in the list of results. This may lead to your time not appearing in the list of results.

15. Why is there a special team competition for teachers?

We want to appeal to youth. Our cooperation partners are the teachers. They motivate the girls to participate, take over the organization of the entire group and also the responsibility for the girls. As motivation and to express our appreciation, in recent years we have had a separate team competition for teachers.

16. Is there childcare for my child while I am running?

Yes! On Sunday from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with drawing, group games and games of skill for children from the age of two years-old. Fathers and relatives are very welcome. For organizational reasons, please register younger children (2-3 years).

17. What do I do if my child is older?

No problem! We have thought of something quite special: the Kid's Playground on Saturday. Boys and girls can test out their skills and have some fun exercising at various stations.
There are great prizes for all. Every child gets a certificate.

18. Why don't I get my payment slip back?

For organizational reasons, with over 8,000 registrations it is not possible to send the payment slip back to every participant. You can pay by means of credit card or bank debit!

19. Will I get a refund of my entry fee if I don't participate?

No, we inform you explicitly in our announcement and also on the Internet that no cancellations are possible and that there is no right to a refund of fees for any reason.
The reason for this is that we must order the various materials rather early, for example, medals, roses, T-shirts, etc., and are no longer able to change the quantities. That also means, however, that if you can't run you can naturally pick up your starting package and T-shirt with your registration confirmation.
If you want to transfer your registration to another participant, of course that is possible, although we charge a € 6 fee for this!

20. Where can I get a registration form / an announcement?

Send a short email to office@oesterreichischerdmfrauenlauf.at
or call +43 1 713 87 86-0.

21. Do I have to pick up my race number personally?

The race numbers can be picked up by showing the registration confirmation. If you can't come yourself to pick it up, please do not forget to give the person who picks it up the confirmation registration!

22. Can I also register for my friend on the Internet?

Of course. You simply have to have all necessary information available.

23. How can I register for a team if I have already registered as an individual?

Please do not re-register with the team name. You can call ++43 01/713 87 86-0 or send an email to office@oesterreichischer-frauenlauf.at. The team name will be added to your registration. This change is free of charge.

24. What should I do if I have not received a registration confirmation?

We send all registration confirmations (regardless of when you registered) approximately two weeks before the run. If you do not receive a confirmation for any reason, please take along a form of personal identification when you go to pick up the race number. You will then receive your race number without a problem!
