The organisers of the Austrian Women's Run, Ilse Dippmann and Andreas Schnabl, receive the Sport Crystal Award of the Federal Sports Organisation and the Federal Chancellary for the "Top Women Power Project 2007".

 

June 3, 2007 At the 20th Austrian Women's Run 14.603 women and girls are participating, among them several international elite runners.
Sabrina Mockenhaupt (GER) wins the duel against last year's winner Krisztina Papp (HUN) with 15:36,6 min and missed the record by only 7 decile seconds.
June 3, 2007 Stella Deetjen from Germany received the Austrian Women's Run Award for her exemplary social achievements.

A highlight of the event was when Austria's Women's Minister Doris Bures presented the "Decoration of Merit in Gold of the Republic of Austria" to Ilse Dippmann.

May 22, 2007 A new participation record was achieved: The sensational number of 14.238 women from 46 nations have already registered for the Women's Run.
May 16, 2007 Hundreds of girls visit the 3rd Girlies Sports Day in the Vienna City Hall. The aim of the event is to motivate young girls to try out different sports.
May 9, 2007 At the Women's Fun Run the girls and women can test their condition and get a foretaste of this year's Women's Run on June 3.
April 11, 2007 Many young girls are training at the Girlies Running Workouts under the motto "Girlies Run and have Fun" for the Austrian Women's Run 2007. This free training takes place at 7 different locations in Vienna.
March 12, 2007 The Women's Run Meetings start again under the motto "Fit in 12 weeks". In the Vienna Prater alone 400 women aer participating in the weekly training. For the first time there are also Women's Run Meetings in Graz, Linz and Salzburg.
March 7, 2007 The official motto of the anniversary Women's Run is presented at a press conference:
"1 Dream - 20 Years - 68.651 Winners".

The 20th anniversay will take place on June 3, 2007.

March 1, 2007 The online registration for the 20th anniversary of the Austrian Women's Run has started. Within very few time more than a thousand women were already registered.
In order to enable more participants from other parts of Austria to participate in the Women's Run, low-cost bus transfers are offered for the first time, connecting Graz, Linz and Salzburg with the Women's Run location.
June 11, 2006

A new record at the 19th Austrian Women's Run again: 12.070 women and girls participated in the run - 20% more than in the previous year. For the first time the race is bigger than the women's run in Berlin.

Like in the year before, there were several international athletes competing. Eloise Wellings (AUS) and Krisztina Papp (HUN) fighted a thrilling duel, and winner Krisztina Papp set a new course record of 15:35,9.

A highlight of the event was the Austrian Women's Run Award which went to Kenyan marathon runner Tegla Loroupe. The prize is an acknowledgement for her peace work in Africa and her numerous social activities worldwide.

With a diversified show program there was party feeling throughout the day.

More than 800 boys and girls between 6 and 12 participate in the annual Kids Run in the Vienna Prater, the motto is "Running is fun".

 

On the occasion of the Austrian Women's Run, there is an official reception again at Hotel "Le Meridien" with the international guests and athletes, sponsors and the press.

May 17, 2006 More than 500 women and girls participate in the Women Fun Run, the 2,5 km or 5 km test run for the Austrian Women's Run.
April 18, 2006 Amazing start at the Girlies Running Workouts: Many girls used the free training with female mentors. At 10 different meeting points - for the first time in Lower Austria too - the girls are prepared for the Austrian Women's Run within 8 weeks.
April 3, 2006 Big run on the GIRLIES SPORTS-DAY in the Vienna City Hall: Around 8.000 girlies got a foretaste of the GIRLIES RUN.
March 22, 2006 Great start into the running season: With more than 320 women the preparation program "Fit in 12 weeks" starts with the Women's Run Meeting in the Vienna Prater.
Feb. 1, 2006 General sponsor dm-drogeriemarkt starts its "dm Leichter-Leben-Tour" through Austria. At 13 spots Ilse Dippmann was present as well to speak about her program "Fit in 12 weeks".
Nov. 7, 2005 A new participation record again with 881 couples at the Cricket SIE & ER Run 2005! Andrea Mayer and Andreas Stitz won 2 sec. before Cornelia Heinzle and Georg Mlynek. Eva Maria Gradwohl and Christian Hohenwarter ranked 3.

The 2.600 young girls who participated in the Austrian Women's Run 2005 are enough motivation to continue with the program "GIRLIES RUN and have fun" next year. With support of the City Vienna there will be various activities to motivate girls to start running.

Oct. 5-10, 2005

With its partner Carlson Wagonlit Travel the Women's Run team travels with a group of 30 people to the Chicago Marathon for the first time. At the press conference at the Chicago Hilton Ilse Dippmann meets Half Marathon World Champion Constantina Dita Tomescu.

June 12, 2005

Sensational record at the 18th Austrian Women's Run: With 10.105 participants the magic 10.000-limit is exceeded. For the first time international top athletes take part in the run. The winner of the elite run, Sabrina Mockenhaupt from Germany, runs the 5 km with a new course record of 15:42,9

One highlight of the event was the Austrian Women's Run Award which was given to US running legend Kathrine Switzer, who initiated the World's first women's run and participated in the 5 km run herself.

For the first time there were music performances along the route by two school bands. Other music acts and a diversified supporting program created party feeling all day long.

At the Kids Run, which takes place annually in line with the Austrian Women's Run, already 700 kids participate according to the motto "Running is fun".

For the first time, on the occasion of the Austrian Women's Run, there is an official reception at the Hotel "Le Meridien".

With the focus on "girlies" and with support of the City Vienna there are special activities to motivate more girls to start running: The 1st Girlies Sports Day in the Vienna City Hall is only one of them. According to the motto "Girlies run and have fun" there are special Girlies Running Workouts which can be used by the girls free of charge.

At a press conference Ilse Dippmann presents Kathrine Switzer as this year's award winner of the Austrian Women's Run Award. Kathrine Switzer is known worldwide as the pioneer of women's runs.

March 7, 2005 In order to reach more women from abroad, the website of the Austrian Women's Run is extended and can now offer an English version too.

The Cricket Sie & Er Run takes place as the season closer for the fourth time. This time, too, a new participation record is achieved - 826 couples take part. The winners stay the same, last year's winners again take the race, Eva Maria Gradwohl and Dieter Pratscher.

Again we achieved a new participation record for the 17th Austrian Women's Run 2004:
A total of 8,049 girls and women took part. In addition to the 6,439 runners for the 5k course and the 1,347 runners for the 10k course, also 263 Nordic Walkers took part for the first time.

At the awards ceremony, the organizer, Ilse Dippmann awarded the newly created, first Austrian Women's Run Award to the UN special ambassador Waris Dirie.

At a press conference, Ilse Dippmann introduced the special ambassador, top model, and best-selling author Waris Dirie, a prominent participant in the Austrian Women's Run 2004.

A newly designed and reworked version of Ilse Dippmann's running program "Fit in 12 Wochen" (Fit in 12 weeks) is published as a pdf-download.

Nov. 9, 2003

For the third time, now, the Women's Run team has organized the Cricket Sie & Er Run together with Cricket Wien. Record participation was reached with 786 participating couples. Eva-Maria Gradwohl and Dieter Pratscher were able to capture their first victory in the event.

June 15, 2003

The 16th Austrian Women's Run: In addition to the classical 5k Women's Run course, a new 10k course will also be offered for the first time. Besides 6,050 runners in the 5k, 1,485 runners will take the opportunity to run the 10k.

Prominent running meeting and Nike Bowerman-running shoe test with the "stars": the city's Executive Sport's Councilor Grete Laska, Federal Minister Maria Rauch Kallat, Environment Councilor DI Isabella Kossina, Austrian Public Broadcasting (ORF)-weatherwoman Mag. The Women's Run team headed by Ilse Dippmann and Andreas Schnabl, organizes Cricket Wien's first Cricket Sie & Er Run. Starting in this traditional season end were 453 couples.

14th Austrian Women's Run
For the first time in the history of the Women's Run, as is standard at international women's runs, there is only one, 5k course. Along with the 6,957 girls and women, providing the customary "Women's Run feeling" were Pat Zapletal at the NIKE-Warm Up, Ö3-Lady Sonja Watzka at the start and "The Beatles Double Group" before the awards ceremony.

12th Austrian Women's Run, Vienna - Prater
Due to the event's heavy growth, the Austrian Women's Run returns to its original site at the Vienna Prater.

Through the expansion of the organizational team and the new comprehensive supporting program, the Austrian Women's Run has become a festival for women.

Along with Nike and dm, Intersport Eybl will be the third main sponsor. For the first time, Austria's fastest female runners will take part in the elite run. Several prominent women will run along with Sonja Klima and Steffi Graf.

Federal Chancellor Viktor Klima calls the start for 2,000 women on the hottest day of the year. The following day, the Women's Run appeared on the cover of the two major daily papers (Krone and Kurier).
May 29, 1998 The Austrian Women's Run makes its first appearance on the cover of the Kronen Zeitung.

The Austrian Women's Run enters the Internet era with its first website.

 
June 22, 1997 10th Austrian Women's Run, Vienna - Donaupark
1997 is a year of premiers: Pat Zapletal takes over the NIKE Warm Up, there are more than 1,000 participants at the start of the race, Sonja Klima fires the starting gun, and dm is the main sponsor-all for the first time.

The move to the Donaupark not only brings along with it new distances (3.4 und 6.8 k), but also many new ideas such as childcare and the Nike Warm Up.
Apr. 17, 1996 As preparation for the Austrian Women's Run and to ease the first running steps for beginners, Ilse Dippmann founds the first Women's Run meeting in the Prater.  
Dec. 1995 In December 1995, Ilse Dippmann brings a new partner into the team, Andreas Schnabl.

After the cancellation, the newly designed Austrian Women's Run takes place in June in the new surroundings of the Vienna Prater!

New additions are the new distances of 3.5 und 7.1 k, and also the trademark of the event, the Women's Run logo.

April 1992 In a conversation with Ilse Dippmann in the context of a follow-up discussion for the Vienna marathon, to the surprise of all, Wolfgang Konrad dismisses the idea of a women's run.

Ilse Dippmann continues to believe in her vision and also Gerhard Konrath is convinced and they do everything possible so that the Austrian Women's Run can also take place this year.

June 12, 1988

With the motto, "From Women For Women" Ilse Dippmann begins the first "Austrian Women's Run" in Laxenburg's palace grounds. The aim of this event is to interest women in the sport of running.

Fall 1987

Ilse Dippmann and Uschi Huber tell the former 3000 m hurdle runner Wolfgang Konrad about the idea of a women's run.

A short time later they begin to tackle the realization of the "Women's Run project."

 
June 21, 1987

The first Swiss women's run takes place in Bern. Elisabeth Brunnhuber gives Ilse Dippmann an announcement and newspaper article informing her about the first edition of this successful event.

 
Nov. 1986 Ilse Dippmann runs her first marathon in New York.

On her journey to the U.S., Ilse Dippmann is confronted with the idea of organizing special runs for women. Back in Austria she first speaks of the idea of an Austrian Women's Run with her friends Uschi Huber and Elisabeth Brunnhuber.
